Start your trek from M’Hamid, journeying out into the desert through the vast palm grove just outside of town. We will head towards Sidi Naji, crossing dunes and desert plateaus. After a long day of walking, we set up camp near the dunes of Sidi Naji.
Today the trek will take you towards Ait Outnir, far away from any road or town. After several hours of walking, we get a first view of the dunes and their very unique vegetation. You can spend the night in a tent or sleep under the stars, whichever you prefer.
We start off walking towards the majestic sand dunes, crossing a large desert plateau. This sea of sand is very little frequented, and climbing to the top of the dunes will allow you an incredible view across the entire Draa Valley. This is the Sahara you’ve always imagined and dreamt about.
We’re leaving these impressive sand dunes today and are headed east towards Zmila. Walking towards mountains and rocky deserts, we reach the very little frequented boundaries of the Draa Valley. It’s very possible to spot some Berber nomads with their herds in this area though. Tonight we set up camp amid a small group of sand dunes.
Today we trek back to the dunes of Latache. Enjoy the simplicity of the Nomadic life in the desert for another day, take in the tranquility and beauty of this place. Tonight will be the last night spent in the Sahara.
Watch the sun rise over the dunes, and after breakfast our caravan will journey back to M’Hamid.
